Fernley City Council Meeting Jan 21, 2009

Fernley City Council meets on January 21, 2009 at 4:00 PM at City Hall. Topics to be discussed include:
*Changing the name of the street where FIS is located to Falcon Way

*Addressing Appointments to various boards and commissions

Talkin' Trash

The city council voted to use a new trash company for residential trash. You may have questions regarding the move, hopefully this will help some:

The new company is called Trash Pros.

1. You will be receiving a letter in the mail regarding the new trash service with a little card to return if you need special services (ie 2 cans, door pick-up for disabled, etc.)

2. On or about Dec. 23rd new blue cans will be delivered to the residents for Trash Pro service which will start after Jan. 3rd.3. Waste Management will be picking up their green cans on your last pick-up day from them (Dec. 30th - Jan 3rd)

No real answers have been given regarding the transfer station - the Waste Management one may or may not stay open, and Trash Pros will be opening their own (don't know where or when yet) for those people who need to make a "dump run".

Trash Talkin'

At last night's city council meeting, the decision was made to change our trash service. The council voted to award the new contract to Trash Pros. You can read more about it here. Trash Pros came in with the lowest bid for residents. We will have the same service we are currently getting with no curb-side recycling available (recycling will still be available at a single location). Service will also now be mandatory for all properties under 2 acres.

What will this mean to Fernley residents? I will find out and get the info posted here regarding what we will need to do to transition to this new service.
